You are meant to live a beautiful life.
As a human being, you’ve got the power to craft a life of your design-
a life filled with harmony, adventure, meaning, and ease.
How can I be sure? Because I’ve done it. I’m doing it now and will continue for decades to come!
Let me tell you a story….
Where I come from:
- crippling anxiety. Couldn’t even pick up the telephone to say ‘hello’ because what if my vocal cords locked up again.
- deep shame. I endured verbal and emotional abuse as a child, obediently internalizing every single word til it became a toxic part of me.
- creative paralysis. I got an apartment with space for a studio so I could paint. Three times in fifteen months is all I could muster, shameful and sad about it every day.
- repressive beliefs. I learned to trick myself into complying with rules I didn’t believe in, using fear tactics to manipulate myself into blind obedience.
- intense body pains. Tight neck, knots all in my back, constant frown lines, spasmic ticklishness.
Where I am now:
- freedom and ease. Free and easy is my new mantra, my reliable compass. When I find myself forcing something, I simply let it go.
- grateful self-love. I never knew loving myself could be so fulfilling- enabling me to love the whole world better! It’s so deep and wonderful.
- creative flow. I’m cranking out a painting a week. 10K words into my first book, and getting friendly again with the piano.
- openness and expansion. I trust my connection to the universe more every day. From this place, I can do anything.
- flexible and happy body. Through yoga, eating consciously, learning how to loosen tension, and first and foremost loving myself enough to even care! I’ve transformed my body into my best friend.
So what shifted for me? How did I cross the threshold into consciously creating a beautiful life?
In my world, growing comes down to a three-step process: letting be, letting go, letting in.
Letting be is seeing how things are, how they really are right now. It’s telling the honest truth. This takes courage and stings at first, but soon blossoms into full-blown liberation! Once I see how things are (aren’t) working right now, I imagine how I want them to be, and then I go about the next step, letting go.
Letting go means saying goodbye to my old habits, things, relationships, beliefs that have kept me from going to the next level. This step too is painful at first, but soon it’s exhilarating and freeing. It’s essential to clear the way before the final and most fun step, letting in.
Letting in is giving myself full permission to breathe life and specificity into my best-case-scenario. Being practical AND expansive is what makes this step so delicious. I literally decide on a case-by-case basis, “Is this in line with my most beautiful life?” And I take it or leave it accordingly.
Personal transformation is a long, wild ride and worth every minute!
What are we to do with this life if not make it beautiful?
