Painting this series was so deeply satisfying because my focus on the simplicity of line was underscored by the simplicity of my materials and process. Line is the most basic element of design, and my watercolor and ink are the simplest and purest of materials I have ever worked with. We get along so well because we keep each other working quickly, which is the most natural and exciting way for me. This On the Horizon series gave a special twist to my usual play of finding that perfect meeting place between powerfully stark minimalism and glorious abstract expressionism. What fun! I loved it.
