Shared Silence

In response to the cool frost of winter, as trees surrender their leaves and open wide their bare arms to experience a soft blanket of snow, the most beautiful harmony happens. This quiet relationship is what I meditated on while I painted my Shared Silence series. Much like a blustery snowstorm, I created these paintings all at once in a whirlwind of watercolor and ink. On a single sheet of paper, I made a grid of 5 x 5 inch squares, laid water over about half the paper’s surface in a random pattern, and began drawing in ink before following with blue watercolor.
